Do You Know Which Ones Will Grow? by Susan A. Shea; paintings by Tom Slaughter.
I love this book! I just love this book! Shall I say it again? I love, love, love this book!
This bright and cheery interactive book asks a simple question, "Do you know which ones grow?" With rhyming text and lift-the-flap pages, it asks such silly questions as, "If a duckling grows and becomes a duck, can a car grow and become... (lift the flap) a truck?" Noooooo, of course not! "If a snakelet grows and becomes a snake, can a cupcake grow and become a cake?" Each flap only partially covers the page beneath giving the reader a hint of what might be underneath so when you lift the flap of the cupcake for instance, the cupcake grows into a cake right before your very eyes. The text is fun and invites the reader to anticipate what i coming next, the illustrations clear and colorful, the ending sweet and satisfying. This super fun book is perfect for preschool through grade 2.
