"I wish I could say I was afraid, but I wasn't. Quite the contrary. This was by far the more interesting thing that had ever happened to me in my entire life." So says eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce, "an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison" upon finding a dead bird with a postage stamp pinned to its beak on her doorstep and a man taking his last breath in the cucumber patch.
This is no ordinary murder mystery.
