Doors open at 2:30 pm.

What can you do at Game On/Teen Zone?

  1. Play games on Kinect for Xbox, Wii, or PS2. We have lots of different games. You can bring your own if they're rated E or T and meet teen librarian's approval.
  2. Challenge a friend to a game of chess, Battleship, Scrabble, Candy Land, etc. We have lots of board games and a deck of playing cards.
  3. Have a snack.
  4. Hang out with your friends.
  5. Read a book.
  6. Read a magazine.
  7. Do a different special activity every time. This month we made a turkey cookie (no turkeys were harmed in preparation for this edible craft). In December, come to the Teen Zone for a Beat Winter Beach Party. In January or March (help me decide!), compete in a Teen Zone Iron Chef.

For those disappointed that Game On was cancelled this month, fear not! This Thursday, October 27, the Issaquah Library's meeting room will be transformed into a pumpkin bowling alley. We'll have other games on hand too, including Risk, Candy Land, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Scrabble and chess. If you're in grades 5-12, you're invited to drop in after school.

You play videogames but have you ever thought about what it takes to make one? Maybe you want to be a game developer yourself?

The King County Library System, in partnership with DigiPen Institute of Technology, is pleased to offer a special mini-workshop where you can experience the art and science of making videogames. Come learn about the game industry, what it takes to be a game developer, and take part in the hands-on lab where you will build an actual game!

Registration is limited to 10 participants, ages 13 – 18 years old.
