at the Newport Way Library

AGENDA

During this meeting we will focus on answering the following questions as a group:

• Knowing that the current construction timeline targets Newcastle Library completion for the Summer of 2012, how often do we want to meet?

• Where and when do we want to meet next?

• How do we want to communicate with each other? Who will be in charge of communication for the group?

• Review Model Bylaws MODEL BYLAWS_001.pdf

• Who has interest in leading the Friends? Typical leadership roles include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

• How would you like to raise money? Traditionally, funds are raised through book sales.

• What do you want to do for the Newcastle Days Event happening September 9th-10th ?

Greetings from the trenches...

Latest photos from the Newcastle Library construction site.

Newcastle trench 1.jpgWe were a big hit at the Newcastle Earth Day!

"The fair went well.  We saw nearly 250 people!  Everyone we encountered was thrilled that a new library is being built in their neighborhood and Newport Way Library will be reopening soon.  People were curious about the green roof, many asking what will be grown there, if someone will need to mow it, or if tours and programs will be held on the roof.

A great way to spend a sunny day!"

Introductory Newcastle Friends Meeting

Saturday, May 21st, at 9AM

Newport Way Library

Library staff will be hosting an informational meeting about Library Friends - activities, fundraising, and how to form a new Friends group.

Friends of the Library groups serve as goodwill ambassadors in the community, promote and advocate for library services, resources and facilities, and enhance the link between the library and the community. Friends groups also work closely with library staff to provide needed financial support for programming and other community library needs.

We would love it if you would join us and encourage you to bring interested friends, family and neighbors. Amy Eggler, the Cluster Manager for Newcastle Library, Aaron Oesting, the Site Manager for the Renton Library, and Julie Brand, Community Relations Director for the King County Library System, will be on hand to answer questions and guide the discussion.

This meeting will be held at the newly re-opened Newport Way Library located at 14250 SE Newport Way. Directions to Newport Way Library

RSVP ---

Please let us know if you are able to attend this meeting by emailing Christine Anderson at chaanderson@kcls.org . If you are unable to attend, I will be happy to send you the information from the meeting so you can stay informed and keep in touch.
